The University of Victoria is hosting a series of workshops to help FIRST Tech Challenge teams learn the skills for designing, building and programming robots. Most of the workshops will be lead by FIRST alumni who are current UVic students.

What is the Engineering Design Process?  Are Engineering Notebooks really important?

The engineering design process is a methodical series of steps that engineers use in creating functional products and processes. The process is highly iterative – parts of the process often need to be repeated many times before another can be entered – though the part(s) that get iterated and the number of such cycles in any given project may vary.

The Engineering Notebook is the team’s record of their design process. All judged awards in FTC are based on the team’s engineering notebook.

The workshops will be held at the University of Victoria on Friday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00pm. Please register for the sessions so we can update you if there’s a last minute room change. This workshop will be held in room B215 of the Engineering Lab Wing (ELW) building.

We plan on live streaming each workshop on the FIRST Robotics BC YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjqJ09AW-_NL0e1OKSSqVNA

Students should register individually rather than as a team. Please register for in person attendance or live stream at: https://forms.gle/GqVWETk8bB8tsojE8
